Leif “Eric” Leaf was born in San Diego and raised in Oceanside. He completed his K-12 education in Oceanside, graduating from OHS in 1970. Eric attended MiraCosta College, San Diego State and received his bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Chico State University in Speech/Language Pathology and his PhD in Counselling Psychology from Indiana State University with an emphasis in Neuropsychology. Eric worked for the Oceanside Unified School District as a Speech Pathologist. He has practiced Neuropsychology for more than 35 years supporting individuals with traumatic brain injury and their families, and leading TBI programs in Kansas City, Los Angeles, Chicago and Las Vegas. Eric is the author and co-author of books and several journal articles about brain injury. He is a frequent speaker locally and nationally on Brain Injury and Recovery topics. Dr. Leaf served as an Assistant Professor of Psychology and Director of the master’s program at the University of St. Mary. He works as a Disability Consultant for Social Security Disability, in private practice and as the Director of Counselling Services for his church, providing free counselling services as part of the church’s outreach ministry. Eric’s life’s mission has been encouraging and helping people. He loves spending time with his wife, Kim, sons Mason and Nick and their families including 4 awesome grandchildren. He enjoys surfing, writing, and travelling to support missions. He has travelled to Kenya, Haiti, Eastern Europe, and Central America to train missionary nurses as well as to build homes and spread the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
