Dr. Cynthia Glover Woods is a proud Oceanside Unified School District product. She attended Del Rio Elementary, Lincoln Junior High and graduated from Oceanside High School. During her years at Oceanside High School, she was an active member of the Pirate Prancers Drill Team, the gymnastics team, and the Black Student Union. After graduation, Dr. Glover Woods earned a bachelor’s degree in English from California State University, Long Beach, a master’s degree in educational administration from California State University, Dominguez Hills, and a doctorate in educational leadership from Azusa Pacific University. Dr. Glover Woods has served California districts for over 30 years and is currently vice president of the California State Board of Education. In addition to her work on the California State Board of Education, Cynthia Glover Woods is a member of the College Board's National Academic Assembly Council and sits on the advisory board for the Western Education Equity Assistance Center. She is also an active member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. In addition to her current roles, she has also worked as an instructional assistant, teacher, curriculum specialist, principal, professional development coordinator, curriculum director, assistant superintendent, and county office of education chief academic officer. It is often quoted that “Service is the rent you pay for your room here on earth.” Dr. Glover Woods is, and always will be, dedicated to serving in roles that shape the systems and structures designed to educate students in California and our nation.
